The chili cookoff has been moved out a week to Sunday, Feb. 5 at 5:30 p.m. so that everyone can cheer for the Bengals in the final playoff game. We hope to see you Feb. 5 and to have you compete for the best chili at Withamsville. Our top three chefs from last year have already signed up. Are you ready to compete? SUNDAY MORNING
Adults – WhyWe Trust the Old Testament (Part 2),Kevin Stewart, auditorium.
This second class in the series will explore some of the many archaeological and historical evidences that prove the veracity of the Old Testament. The presentation will include many interesting pictures of archaeological artifacts that confirm the writings in the Bible. These sessions will focus particularly on Joseph and Moses in Egypt and the conquest of the Promised Land.
College and Young Adults Class –Colossians, Mike Gulley’s Office
For Paul, the nature of Jesus as Creator and Redeemer was nonnegotiable. He focuses on Christ as being sovereign and over all things. As such, Jesus is also Head over the church. He has reconciled all things to Himself through His death on the cross, making believers alive to God and setting them on the path to right living.
Youth Classes
OT1: Where’s Jesus? Joe Pauley/Ben Painter – Youth House
For kids in grades 6-8. Sometimes is difficult for us to see and understand that the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament is the same. The truth is, not only is He the same God but scripture as a whole is telling the same cohesive story. In this study, we will be looking at part one of our journey of seeing Jesus throughout the Old Testament.
Deal or No Deal, Mike Gulley/Dan Moore – Youth House
For teens in grades 9 and 10, Deal or No Deal is a study of the various covenants in scripture and the God who made them. Throughout this study, we strive to establish the importance of covenants in our lives today as well as understand God’s role and usage of covenants throughout scripture.
Bible v. World, Don Moore – Youth House
For teens in grades 11 and 12, the purpose of Bible V. World is to provide a strong, biblical foundation on some of life’s more difficult topics or struggles. The aim is to help strengthen/prepare the students before the next step of the journey in life.
Children’s Classes – Lower-level classrooms, 4-K in the loft
This week, our kids through grade 5 will learn how Esther Saved Her People from the book of Esther.
WEDNESDAY EVENING
Adults –Your Spiritual Battle: We Are At WAR, Monty Gillespie, teacher.
There is a WAR raging around us. In fact, we are caught up in the battle unaware…. it is a war of ideas. You and your church are under attack. We will explore the enemy’s weapons and discuss our action plans. Class will be held in the auditorium through the end of February.
Youth – Sermon on the Mount: Living the High Life
Meet in the Fellowship Hall for Hangout Time at 6 p.m. and class at 7 p.m.
Children – Meet in the auditorium with parents. Dismissed to class after announcements. Kids age 2-K are in the loft. Kids in grades 1-5, meet downstairs, classroom #7.
Nursery – The nursery is now staffed on Wednesday evenings for children under 2. Meet in the auditorium with parents. Dismissed to nursery after announcements.
